How Redline dealers quote today
Every dealer quotes off a spreadsheet that started as somebody's copy of a job from four years ago. The sizing rules aren't in it. They're in Dale's head, and Dale has been here since the second plant opened.
Last month a dealer in Sioux Falls sold a 95-foot tunnel into an 88-foot bay. The customer signed. The order went to the shop. Nobody caught it until the conveyor was on a truck. Redline ate the freight both ways and the dealer lost the account.
Two weeks ago a different dealer quoted a compact dryer on an extended tunnel because it made the number look better. The cars come out wet. That one is still open.
Neither dealer was careless. They just don't have the rules, because the rules have never been written down anywhere but in one man's memory.
